Hotel of the Week - The White Hart, Leek (Sunday Mirror Holidays Supplement 1st March 2015)

We thought we'd share the Sunday Mirror's review:

Where and Why On the edge of the Peak District, the pretty market town of Leek is perfectly placed for exploring one of the most beautiful parts of England. And this Grade II listed B&B is well placed near the centre of this ancient town which received a Royal Charter in 1207. The White Hart is a tea room with accommodation and offers fantastic rooms at absurdly affordable prices. The owners are friendly and welcoming while the scrumptious breakfast is to die for!

On the Menu A full English at the White Hart is a great start to the day while pastries, yoghurts and fresh fruit are also available. As a busy market town Leek has an impressively high number of cosy pubs, many offering great food at very reasonable prices. We tried the home-made tomato soup and pies at the nearby Black Swan, a delicious and reasonably-priced meal at less than £20 for two, including drinks. The recently renovated Red Lion is also worth visiting for an evening of relaxation and excellent food. The open fires are huge, the staff are delightful and the burgers and the fish and chips are delicious

While you're there Nobody should come to Leek without taking tie to explore the dramatic Peak District. The spectacular Roaches rock formations which stand sentinel over this area, are a short drive away. The walk up to 1.500ft is worth every step to experience the breathtaking views. And for kids both young and old the white-knuckle thrills of Alton Towers Theme Park are just 10 miles down the road.
